Dr. Setiyono, S.H., M.H., CPArb., CPA.

Introduction

Dr. Setiyono, S.H., M.H., CPArb., CPA. is our Litigation Cooperation Partner and has twenty-eight years of experience in legal practice and academics.

Since 2000, he has been a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Trisakti, teaching Criminal Procedure Law Practice. In between his academic career, he was appointed as Head of the Litigation Division at the Legal Consultation and Aid Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Trisakti (LKBH FH-USAKTI) from 2002 to 2023.

As a legal practitioner, he has experience in many legal fields, including as a legal auditor in respected law firms. He is also a researcher in human rights law, attorney, jury in the National Moot Court, and senator/academic coordinator for STIH Gunung Jati and the University of Trisakti. In 2023, he was appointed Head of the Legal and Advocacy Division of the Indonesian Building Materials Entrepreneurs Association (IPBBI).

His passion for the law has given him numerous opportunities to serve as a keynote speaker and contributor at Indonesian and international events.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Trisakti and a master’s in law from the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta. In 2022, he obtained his doctoral degree in law from the University of Trisakti. Recently, the Indonesia Dispute Board certified him as a professional arbitrator. He is also a Certified Professional Adjudicator.

• Providing expert testimony (Affidavit) at the Corruption Crime Court Decision Review stage at the Bandung Special Class IA District Court No. 121/Pid.Sus-TPK/2018/PN.BDG dated March 5, 2019, in conjunction with the Bandung High Court Decision Number 8/Tipikor/2019/PT.BDG dated May 14, 2019, on behalf of Convict Billy Sindoro, at the Corruption Crime Court at the Bandung District Court, 2019.
• Providing expert testimony at the Judicial Review stage of the Decision of the Republic of Indonesia Tax Court Number PUT-000841.16/2019/PP/M.XIVB of 2020, dated June 24, 2020, Decision of the Republic of Indonesia Tax Court Number PUT-000842.16/2019/PP/M.XIVB of 2020, dated June 24, 2020, and Decision of the Republic of Indonesia Tax Court Number PUT-000843.16/2019/PP/M.XIVB of 2020, dated June 24, 2020, at the Republic of Indonesia Tax Court, 2020.
• Providing expert testimony in a criminal trial involving the illegal distribution, transmission, or access to electronic information or documents containing gambling or criminal content and offering or facilitating gambling activities. This case is registered as Number 16/Pid.Sus/2024/PN.Jkt.Sel at the South Jakarta Class 1A Special District Court, January 2024.
• Providing expert testimony in the trial of alleged criminal acts involving forgery, using forged documents, falsifying information in an authentic deed, and unlawfully benefiting from selling, exchanging, or encumbering uncertified land or property. This case is registered as Number 307/Pid.B/2024/PN.CBI at the Cibinong District Court Class 1A, August 2024.
• Successfully representing Singapore International School as the Applicant for Cassation to file a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, 2013.
• Successfully representing PT. Rimba Hutani Mas as the Plaintiff to file a state administrative lawsuit in the Forestry sector at the Palembang State Administrative Court in 2014.
• Successfully representing Kabushiki Kaisha Mitomo Corporation as a Plaintiff in a civil lawsuit at the Central Jakarta District Court 2015.
• Successfully representing the Indonesian Coal Mining Association/APBI-ICMA as the Applicant to apply for judicial review of the Government Regulation and Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, 2017.
• Successfully representing PT. Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk as the Respondent in the Arbitration Application for the Coal Fired Steam Power Plants Project PLTU Lampung 2 x 100 MW Lampung Indonesia Agreement Dispute Case Number PLG-200-MR-MC0005, at the Indonesian National Arbitration Board, 2018.
• Successfully handling lawsuits, due diligence, and legal opinions from large and public companies, such as PT. Semen Gresik (Persero) Tbk in 2007, PT. Berau Coal in 2016 and PT. Trimegah Bangun Persada (TBP) Tbk in 2024.
