SMK3 Ministry of Manpower – The Occupational Safety and Health Management System

Based on Indonesian Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 concerning the Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, the Occupational Safety and Health Management System or Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan & Kesehatan Kerja abbreviated as SMK3, is part of the overall company management system. Its purpose is to control risks related to work activities to create a safe, efficient, and productive workplace. Occupational Safety and Health (K3) encompasses all activities aimed at ensuring and protecting the safety and health of workers by preventing work accidents and work-related diseases.

An organization’s commitment and obligation to implement an occupational safety and health management system that is integrated with the company’s management system. Therefore it will protects workers and collaborators against occupational health and safety risks in accordance with Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower. The SMK3, aligned with the international standard ISO 45001, aims to manage K3 aspects in every workplace work process.
